Yesterday's Summer
Early in the 20th century my grandparents, and their family
made annual pilgrimages to the Michigan "Northwoods" where
they camped in tents by a lake, enjoying time away from the city bustle
to fish, swim and share gossip. The ladies relaxed in long skirts while
the men fished in suits, ties and starched white shirts. This site
remembers those expeditions and the people through my grandfather's
remarkable photographs and the tales told by my father, David Strickler.
The original project was a winning CD-ROM in the North
Bay Multimedia Association’s “Best
of the North Bay” contest.
