Early in the 20th century
my grandparents, along with their family and friends, made annual
pilgrimages from Columbus, Ohio to the Michigan "Northwoods"
where they camped in tents by a lake, enjoying time away from
the city bustle, fishing, swimming and sharing gossip. The ladies
relaxed in long skirts while the men fished in suits, ties and
starched white shirts. This site remembers those expeditions
and the people through my grandfather James P. Strickler's remarkable
photographs and the tales told by my father, David L. Strickler. |
